Title I Schoolwide Parent Involvement Policies
A Title I school is eligible to become a Title I Schoolwide Program when the poverty level, (determined by free and reduced meal counts, Aid for Dependent Children [AFDC], census, or Medicaid) is at or above 40%. Schoolwide programs serve all children in a school. All staff, resources, and classes are part of the overall Schoolwide program. The purpose is to generate high levels of academic achievement in core subject areas for all students, especially those students most in need. This purpose is achieved through:
- High quality instruction
- Comprehensive reform strategies and methods that are based on the use of scientifically based research
- Strategies and methods to improve teacher quality and professional development
- Consolidated use of funds
We are required by law to have on file a Parent Involvement Compact. The following is a suggested Parent Involvement Compact to be adopted at the annual Title I meeting on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in Cafeteria.
The Illini West High School District #307 and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.
This parent involvement compact is in effect during the 2021-22 school year.
1. High-quality curriculum and instruction will be provided in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
A. Utilize research-based programs and instruction to improve areas of reading deficits.
B. Monitor student progress and provide more individualized interventions when necessary.
2. Parent-teacher conferences will be held once a year, during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Parents will also have reasonable access to staff.
A. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held once a year in the fall. Title I teachers will be available to meet with parents at these times.
B. Any time a parent would like to meet with a Title I teacher, a meeting will be set up at their convenience.
C. Teachers will attend IEP and RTI meetings when invited by the parent or faculty member.
D. The possibility of holding other parent meetings for the current year will be discussed at the annual parent meeting.
E.The Title I coordinator will communicate updates of student progress through the district website, email, mail and telephone contact.
F. The Title I coordinator will hold up-to-date informational, educational meetings throughout the year for parents to assist them with current concerns and issues as needed.
3. Parents will be provided with frequent reports on their child’s progress.
A. Parents will be informed before their child is placed in the Title I reading program.
B. Parents will be given information about the Title I reading program.
C. Parents will be informed as to why their child qualifies for Title I reading program.
D. An annual parent meeting will be held within each academic year.
E. Parents will receive progress reports via unlimited access to grades on power school as well as quarterly grade reports.
F. Parents and students will be expected to sign a parent-school compact (attached)
4. Parents will have the opportunity to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities.
A. Parents will be afforded the opportunity to volunteer to assist the teacher in implementing classroom activities as needed.
B. Parents may make advance arrangements to observe the Title I programs that are being utilized at Illini West.
